This spring, American Legion Post 835 in Rancho Cucamonga sent a quilt on the annual Run for the Wall, a motorcycle ride from California to Washington, D.C., to honor veterans and visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall. Neal Hughes, commander of Post 835, presented the quilt May 4 to Run for the Wall committee members Carol Olmstead and Shirley Scott, and the quilt traveled with the motorcycle riders during the May 18-27 ride across the country. Hughes' wife, Sandy, and Ralph Ward collaborated to make the quilt, according to a news release.
